Who this is between

These terms are between you and the developer of Koum. Apple is not a party to them. Apple is a third-party beneficiary and may enforce them against you. Apple has no obligation to provide support for Koum and no responsibility for it.

Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. Where it conflicts with these terms, Apple's agreement wins.

Your licence

You get a personal, non-transferable licence to use Koum on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service. You may not copy, resell, reverse-engineer or redistribute the app, or extract its bundled content for use elsewhere.

Subscriptions

• Koum is a paid subscription, bought through the App Store. If an introductory or free period is ever offered, its terms are shown in the app before you buy and on the App Store listing.
• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period. Renewal is charged within 24 hours of the period ending.
• Manage or cancel in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before a renewal date to avoid being charged for the next period.
• Current prices are shown on the App Store and in the app before you buy. Prices vary by region and can change; you will always be told before a price change affects you.
• Cancelling stops future charges. It does not refund the current period, and access continues until that period ends.

All purchases are handled by Apple. Refunds are Apple's decision — request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue refunds ourselves.

What Koum can and can't promise

Koum uses Apple's AlarmKit, so alarms behave like the ones in the Clock app, including ringing through Silent and Focus. Even so, an alarm on a phone depends on that phone: it will not ring if the device is off, out of battery, has alarm permission revoked, or if the app has been deleted.

Do not rely on Koum as the only alarm for anything where being late has serious consequences. Keep a second alarm for flights, exams, medication and shift work. We are not liable for a missed wake-up.

Verification is a best effort. Scanning and speech recognition can fail in poor light, on unusual editions, or with background noise. Koum will always give you a way out of a ringing alarm — that is deliberate, and it means verification can be bypassed.

Your content

Your journal entries, prayers and notes are yours. We claim no rights over them and, as described in the privacy policy, we cannot read them. Keeping them is your responsibility: they live on your device and in your private iCloud, so keep iCloud backup on if they matter to you. We cannot restore data that we never held.

Scripture and devotional content

Koum ships the King James Version and the World English Bible, both in the public domain. Devotional writing in the app is our own or adapted from public-domain sources, and is provided for personal reflection. It is not pastoral, medical, psychological or legal advice.

Acceptable use

Use Koum lawfully. Do not attempt to break, probe or circumvent the app, its subscription checks, or the services it relies on. We may end your licence if you do.

Disclaimer and liability

Koum is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent the law allows. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from the app is limited to the amount you paid for it in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and nothing here affects consumer rights you have in your own country.

Changes and ending

We may update these terms; the date at the top will change and material updates will be flagged in the app. You can stop using Koum at any time by cancelling your subscription and deleting the app.
