Something not working?
Email a person. There is no ticket system and no bot — you will get a reply from whoever built the thing you're asking about, usually within two working days.
It helps to include your iPhone model, your iOS version, and what you were doing when it went wrong. If an alarm failed to ring, the time it was set for is the most useful thing you can tell us.
The alarm didn't ring
Koum uses Apple's AlarmKit, the same system your Clock app uses, so it rings through Silent and through Focus. If it stayed quiet, the permission is almost always the cause.
- Open Settings → Koum and confirm alarms are allowed. If the permission was declined during setup, Koum cannot schedule anything.
- Check the alarm is switched on in Koum, and that today is one of its selected days.
- Confirm your iPhone is running iOS 26 or later. Koum requires it — AlarmKit does not exist on earlier versions.
The scan won't verify my page
Scanning reads the page on your device and works out which passage it is. It struggles in the dark, at a steep angle, or when only part of the page is in frame.
- Get the whole page in frame, roughly flat and roughly square on.
- Move closer to a lamp, or turn one on. Thin paper needs light behind you, not in front.
- After a few attempts Koum offers to switch you to typing, and after that it takes your word for it. The alarm will never trap you.
If it fails repeatedly on a specific Bible, tell us the translation and the edition — that is genuinely useful, and it is how the matching gets better.
Speaking isn't recognised
Speech recognition runs on the device, so it works offline, but it needs microphone permission. Check Settings → Koum → Microphone and Speech Recognition. A rough match is enough to pass — you do not have to be word-perfect, and you do not have to be awake.
Subscriptions and refunds
- Cancel a subscription: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Koum → Cancel. Everything is managed by Apple; Koum cannot cancel or refund on your behalf.
- Restore a purchase: Koum → Settings → Restore purchases. Use the same Apple Account you subscribed with.
- Request a refund: go to reportaproblem.apple.com. Refunds are Apple's decision, not ours.
- Charged unexpectedly? Email us anyway. We would rather know.
My streak broke and I did read
A morning counts when verification passes within thirty minutes of the alarm. Koum also gives you one automatic freeze a month, applied without you asking. If a day was missed that shouldn't have been, email us with the date and we will look at it.
Getting your journal and prayers out
Entries live on your iPhone and back up to your own private iCloud, so they follow you to a new device when you sign in with the same Apple Account. Deleting the app deletes the local copy. If you want an export and don't see one in Settings yet, ask — it moves up the list every time someone does.
Deleting everything
Koum → Settings → Delete all data removes every entry, prayer and journal line from the device and from your private iCloud database. It cannot be undone, and we cannot recover it for you, because we never had it.
Requesting a translation
Koum ships the King James Version and the World English Bible, both public domain. NIV, ESV, NLT, NASB and CSB all require licensing, so they are not in the app. Verification works regardless of what you are reading from — it matches on the reference, not the wording, so an NIV Bible on your desk is fully supported.
